Is A.R Rahman the reason for Delhi 6 postponement?

There is a strong buzz in the industry circles that music director A.R. Rahman is the reason for the postponement of Delhi 6 by a month. This Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor starrer film being directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and jointly produced by Mehra and UTV was to release on February 20th.

Our sources reveal, “Though the shooting part of the film is complete what is now left is the film’s background score which is being given by the music maestro. But Rahman being an Oscar nominee and also being busy visiting the USA for the Golden Globe Awards ceremony earlier and now with the Screen Actors Guild Awards happening there, Rahman has hardly got any time to dedicate for Delhi 6. Now with less than a month left for the announced date of release, it seems less likely that he will be able to complete it on time. Thus, the delay.”

It is not the first time, Rahman has been a reason for big ticket film’s delay. You can recollect we had earlier revealed the reasons behind Ghajini’s delayed release as well and Rahman being the reason for it. It was learnt that the preparations for releasing the film on November 28th 2008 had begun and as a first step the music of the film was to be released in mid-September. So for that Rahman had to deliver the master music track to the audio company (T-Series) in mid August. But, Rahman had clearly told them that he would require three weeks more time for the same. The makers were then left with no option but postpone the release of their film further to December 25th.
