Lagaan (2001) [mp3]

This is Aamir-season, so here is one more of him. Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar's Lagaan started a whole new trend of film making in Bollywood that is focussed more on realism and art, than just plain mindless entertainment. This film has specially been a turning point for Aamir Khan, the result of which has been films like Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, and this year's latest and his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par. Lagaan also proved to be a significant point in the career of his co-star, Gracy Singh. She had only done minor roles in her two previous films, but Lagaan changed everything for her too. For being such an influent and great film with excellent performances and superb diection, Lagaan won 44 awards, including 8 at the Filmfare and a nomination for the Oscars.

The beautiful music of Lagaan is composed by the one and only A.R. Rehman with lyrics from Javed Akhtar. I'm seriously running out of praises for this movie. Every aspect of it is done extremely well. Enjoy the last couple of days of 2007 with these songs. A R RAHMAN WILL DO US ALL PROUD

He is the man of the moment. Be it his film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ or his lilting music, A R Rahman has hit the right note ( read 3 Oscar nominations ) & is in news for all the right reasons. Will India bring home the Oscars this time ?.

A.R. Rahman Claiming Oscar next After gaining Golden globe award

Mumbai, Music composer A.R. Rahman Monday became the first Indian to win a Golden Globe award and is already looking forward to bagging an Oscar for his soundtrack for British filmmaker Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire".

"For the people of India to get an Oscar is a big thing. So for their sake, more than mine, I hope my song 'Jai ho' and my music score in 'Slumdog Millionaire' win the Oscar," Rahman told IANS on phone before the Golden Globe Awards ceremony.

Hollywood music composers like Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore and Danny Elfman have been impressed by the score Rahman has composed.

"They made genuinely warm comments about my music in 'Slumdog Millionaire'. I think they love the Mumbai that they have seen in the film and Danny has made terrific use of my music. The way he has mixed my songs, they are full on, like in a discotheque," the 43-year-old music maestro said...........

"If my music has made an impact in the West, it is because it has been projected so effectively in 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Though some of the songs like 'Jai ho', 'O saya' and 'Ringa ringa' are in Hindi, the Americans love them," he added.

Swades is the award winning movie starring Shahrukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi (debut). Jodhaa Akbar (2008)

It's finally here everyone. Music of Jodhaa Akbar is released and it is absolutely superb. A.R. Rehman definitely has picked his top tunes for this movie. The best songs have to be Jashn-E-Bahaara and Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah which have been the backbone of all the promo clips of the film.

Jodhaa Akbar is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and stars Hrithik Roshan as the Mughal Emperor Akbar and Aishwarya Rai as Jodhabai, the Rajput princess. It's tells the story of how Akbar married Jodhaa for political reasons but later fell in love with her. I can't wait to watch this film. It's set to release on 25 15 February. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008)

Aamir Khan launches his nephew Imraan Khan in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, the third film produced under Aamir Khan Productions. It's directed by Abbas Tyrewala and also stars Genelia D'Souza, Naseeruddin Shah and Manjari Phadnis. Aamir has even roped in A.R. Rehman to compose the music for JTYJN to boost Imraan's debut film. However it seems like the film lacks in story, which is the most vital part of a film. How many times have we heard that a bad or so-so screenplay will never make a great fil. Looks like Aamir ignored that crucial principle specially when it is also Abbas Tyrewala's debut as a director. What is left is to see how Chhota Khan performs. Hope he proves to be a promising actor.

Yuvvraaj was released on 21 November, and it is liked a lot since most of the searches on this site these is is Yuvvraaj. It is produced and directed by Subhash Ghai and stars Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Zayed Khan, Boman Irani and Mithun Chakraborty. It's about relationship between the three brothers and the issue of inheritence after their father dies. I watched the movie myself, however I didn't like it much. I guess I was expecting too much beforehand. After it is a Subhash Ghai film and stars all big actors. Music of Yuvraj is composed by A.R. Rehman. I hope you like the songs. Cheers.

Ghajini-(2008) [MP3]

Ghajini is the latest film from Aamir Khan to be released on Christmas this year. It's directed by A. R. Murugadoss. The other major cast of Ghajini includes Asin Thottumkal and Jia Khan. The film is about a rich mobile phone company owner, Prashanth Pawar(Amir Khan), who loses his memory after being hit on the head in a fight. I don't wanna give out any spoilers here, so if you wanna know more about the storyline, checkout Wikipedia.

Music of Ghajini is directed by the one and only A. R. Rehman. Absolutely great music. I was kinda disappointed with Yuvraa's music, but this one is great. I specially Behka and Ghajini and Kaise Mujhe and .... actually I love all of 'em. But the best has to be Kaise Mujhe, I'm listening to it right now and it's intoxicating!

By the way these songs are in MP3 format, they're a lot bigger than .rm files.
