3 Idiots, which is a movie adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone, is a lighthearted and entertaining journey of three friends as they try to figure themselves out and share unforgettable experiences.

Two friends, played by Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, are on a hunt for Rancho (Aamir Khan), a maverick, who changed their way of looking at the world.

They move back in time to their college days, Rancho, his relationship with Pia (Kareena Kapoor), and their tyrannical teacher, played by Boman Irani.

Looking for Rancho, they also have to deal with a bet made in the days gone by, a wedding, and a funeral.

Aamir Khan has gone in a long vacation

After gaining a great reputation and the after completion of most challenging duties of last year the great bollywood star Aammir Khan is now willing to take a long vacation.

A source close to the actor revealed, “It is true that Aamir is finally taking a year off after Raj Kumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots is complete. He is currently in Bangalore shooting for the film. Actually, he was planning to take a sabbatical last year after Taare Zameen Par, where the double responsibility of directing and acting sapped him. But then he was coaxed into doing Ghajini and then began his physical re-orientation, the muscle-building and body toning that really exhausted the method actor. But Aamir is now ready to take the long pending break. He won’t be doing any films for the next one year.”

But although he is taking break from work his production house, Aamir Khan Productions will continue working. Currently the production house is producing Abhinay Deo’s Delhi Belly and Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat. On a year long leave Aamir will spend his time by traveling, reading scripts, watching films and with his children.

SRK angry with Aamir Khan

Looks like SRK has still not forgiven Aamir Khan for his ‘dog’ blog last year.

For the unawares, Aamir had infamously blogged about a dog called Shah Rukh mid last year.

At that time King Khan had said that he didn’t really mind it but it really doesn’t seem that he’s forgiven and forgotten whatever happened

At a public event to promote a watch SRK said, “I can take my shirt off for you but I don’t have anything written on my chest like Aamir. You know we don’t need to write things on our chests to sell watches here. We do it just like that.”

He made it clear that he isn’t really picking on Aamir.

He added, “I don’t pick on him. It is a joke and it is supposed to continue but the media makes it big. But, yes I don’t like some of the things that he and other people have said and I am serious about that. I will have a chat with him but I won’t tell you what it is I will pick on him in person.”

Well, the King Khan doesn’t really take things with a pinch of salt every time. He’s just diplomatic enough to not say it all the time. And at this moment he doesn’t seem to be in a diplomatic mood at all. -Sampurn Media

Lagaan (2001) [mp3]

This is Aamir-season, so here is one more of him. Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar's Lagaan started a whole new trend of film making in Bollywood that is focussed more on realism and art, than just plain mindless entertainment. This film has specially been a turning point for Aamir Khan, the result of which has been films like Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, and this year's latest and his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par. Lagaan also proved to be a significant point in the career of his co-star, Gracy Singh. She had only done minor roles in her two previous films, but Lagaan changed everything for her too. For being such an influent and great film with excellent performances and superb diection, Lagaan won 44 awards, including 8 at the Filmfare and a nomination for the Oscars.

The beautiful music of Lagaan is composed by the one and only A.R. Rehman with lyrics from Javed Akhtar. I'm seriously running out of praises for this movie. Every aspect of it is done extremely well. Enjoy the last couple of days of 2007 with these songs. Taare Zameen Par (2007)

Sorry for taking so long to post Taare Zameen Par. I've been REALLY busy lately. As they say, better late than never. So here it is. Aamir Khan's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par stars himself in the lead role alongside Tanay Chheda, Tisca Chopra, Vibha Sharma, and Darsheel Safary. I'm sure a lot of you have been eagerly waiting for this. Aamir is also the producer of this film. We all know that he is a control freak when it comes to his movies and has had problems with his previous directors and producers. So this time he's taken control of everything to make sure the final product is exactly what he wants. I hope it pays off well.

Music of TZP is directed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Right now I'm listening to song 3 and there is nothing spectacular so far. It ain't that bad either. I'm sure I will like them more once I see the film. I hope you enjoy them more than I did.

Aamir Khan is finally sleeping peacefully

Having admitted in his last blog to having sleepless nights during his Ghajini’s release time, Aamir has now 

finally managed to catch some sleep. Presently shooting in IIM Bangalore for Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots Aamir confesses to having a great time shooting in the IIM campus.

He further states, “Since I am also staying on the campus I save on travel time and as a result I am finally getting to sleep. I can’t tell you how happy I am about that. Raju is an absolute delight to work with and so are the rest of the cast and crew. I’m also really enjoying playing badminton, tennis and chess with the students here. IIMB has a super campus and a great bunch of students and faculty. Importantly everyone seems to be happy here and that is good to see. But mostly I am enjoying catching up on my sleep. What fun.”

He has also expressed his willingness to meet his Bangalore fans and has requested them to post their contact details on his blog. He also has revealed the book which he is reading presently. He says, “I’m reading a great book. Its called India After Gandhi, by Ramchandra Guha. It is a book on Indian History post 1947. Very informative.” -Sampurn Media

Taare Zameen Par is out of Oscar race

AR Rahman might have made India proud with a Golden Globe award. But 2007's acclaimed Taare Zameen Par hasn't been so lucky at the 81st Academy Awards. The film directed by Aamir Khan has failed to make it to the list of the nine films short listed in the foreign language film category. In the past movies like Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan have made it to the nominations list.

The nine short listed films include French Cannes winner The Class and Golden globe winner Waltz with Bashir from Israel. The ones selected from amongst the 65 choices will now go for the next round of voting. The selection committees in New York and Los Angeles will then pick five nominees from among them. The winner will be declared on February 22.
There were many who hoped that this simple film about a boy and his teacher would make it to the Oscars at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center. Taare Zameen Par written by Amol Gupte and director actor Aamir Khan is about a child's battle with dyslexia and how a sensitive teacher helps him out of the situation. Mr. Perfectionist must be pretty disappointed about the whole thing.

Aamir Khan Awarded with golden statue

Producers have strange ways of making their leading men happy at the end of a film so that they are open to doing another film.

Ghajini producer Madhu Mantena outdid himself by presenting a solid-gold statue designed specially to resemble Aamir's Ghajini look at the party held to celebrate the film's success earlier this week.

"8 abs included," says Mantena proudly. We didn't know it was 8 abs. "It is and we can see all 8 of them on the statue," he states.

The statuette is pure gold and probably cost the producer close to Rs. 70-80 lakhs though he isn't telling.

"It has certain amount of other metal to make it malleable. Solid gold wouldn't allow the identical Ghajini shape to be done in gold. But the idea was to create an Oscar-sized statue exclusively for Ghajini. Aamir knew he was getting a trophy. But he didn't know it would be golden and with his Ghajini's look. He was overwhelmed," says Mantena.

So now a second project featuring the Ghajini actor-producer is pucca. To make sure he doesn't feel bad, director Murugadoss was also given a statue. Though we hear his was far less hefty and golden than Aamir's. But yes, the 8-abs were there for Muruga too.

Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

I love everything about Dil Chahta Hai! The music, the cast, the story, script, and everything else in this movie (except a couple maybe). I have watched this movie more than 10 times since it was first released, and everytime I watch it, it feels like it's the first I'm watching it.

Dil Chahta Hai's casts include Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, and the pretty Preity Zinta. I think Aamir and Saif play the most interesting characters of the movie. They are funny, they are bold and most importantly their characters seem so real. I think this movie has something for everyone. You gotta watch this, if you havn't yet. It is directed by Farhan Akhtar, and the music is given by the one and only AR Rahman Shankar Ehsaan Loy (thanks to Anon for correcting me). The songs are great, but you would enjoy them much more if you were listening to them while watching the movie, or at least knowing in what context the songs are sung in the movie. Ghajini-(2008) [MP3]

Ghajini is the latest film from Aamir Khan to be released on Christmas this year. It's directed by A. R. Murugadoss. The other major cast of Ghajini includes Asin Thottumkal and Jia Khan. The film is about a rich mobile phone company owner, Prashanth Pawar(Amir Khan), who loses his memory after being hit on the head in a fight. I don't wanna give out any spoilers here, so if you wanna know more about the storyline, checkout Wikipedia.

Music of Ghajini is directed by the one and only A. R. Rehman. Absolutely great music. I was kinda disappointed with Yuvraa's music, but this one is great. I specially Behka and Ghajini and Kaise Mujhe and .... actually I love all of 'em. But the best has to be Kaise Mujhe, I'm listening to it right now and it's intoxicating!
